Tuesday


 On Tuesday, we visited Sekolah Pelita Harapan Kemang Village, the school where Mr. Burge and Mme Lee used to teach (and where Dax was a student!).  We toured the school, which is in a high rise building.  Students sat in some classes and played volleyball with SPH students. 

After lunch at the mall, we went to the textile museum, where students learned to make Batik.

 Today, students were up early to go to an SLH school, which is connected to the SPH school we are visiting, but which caters to local Indonesians at a lower income level.  Students introduced themselves in Indonesian and told everyone something they like to do.  We then had a writing workshop, and students really enjoyed getting to know the Indonesian students.  We will return to this school tomorrow for another activity.   Everyone continues to do very well, embracing the differences and new experiences.

We spent a fun (and hot!) day at a traditional Sundanese village. They enjoyed a variety of traditional activities, including playing the gamelan, playing the angklung, singing, dancing, making a puppet with cassava leaves, painting a farmer’s hat, wearing traootges, planting rice and washing a water buffalo.
